In Chinese medical theory, the Heart is considered the Emperor of all the systems of the body. It has the power to heal all conditions, physical and emotional.

Before entering the acupuncture profession, I was a massage therapist for over 20 years, and I have personally witnessed the healing power of touch and a heart-centered approach to medicine. Did you know that kindness and compassion in health care have been shown in studies to lower blood pressure, lessen pain, and lowers recovery time from illness and injury? The roots of Chinese medicine are firmly grounded in this perspective.  In 2003, when I began to study massage here in the mountains of western NC I experienced firsthand what this was all about. Years later, working alongside a group of acupuncturists, I was astonished at how profound their work was and I became fascinated with learning more about Chinese medicine. I’m honored to have studied with Master Jeffrey Yuen and to offer this amazingly comprehensive system of healing to the WNC community. I was drawn to study herbal medicine when I was in my early 20 and  I’m fascinated by the healing power of plants and the wealth of diversity that surrounds us on this land. Hiking, foraging, gardening, cooking, and making herbal medicine are some of my favorite pastimes. Like the ancient mothers and fathers of Chinese medicine, I truly believe that prevention is the best medicine and that regular movement, a healthy diet, and a grateful heart is the key to a long happy life.
